BCCI Plan for Jasprit Bumrah 2027 World Cup – Why India is Carefully Managing Its Fast Bowling Star
The trophy of ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is in the name of Team India and it has become the first team to win two consecutive T20 World Cups and the BCCI is considering giving a new and important responsibility to Jasprit Bumrah, who was the hero of this victory.
After losing badly to Australia in the final of ODI World Cup 2023, the wounds of Team India are still not healed, unless one more trophy is won in ODI format, the series will not be won.
Keeping this in mind, Indian pacer Bumrah will be given less time to play T20 and in his place Md. Siraj will be given a chance, who could play only one match in this World Cup and took 3 wickets.
BCCI Plan for Jasprit Bumrah 2027 World Cup to get another trophy after 2011. It has been a long time since they became ODI World Cup champions, hence the board is preparing Team India for all formats and Jasprit Bumrah is a part of that plan.
The team management and selectors are making this strategy keeping his workload in mind, so that his preparation for the 2027 World Cup can be better.
According to a report, Bumrah may be given less chances in the T20 series starting in July with England.

Bumrah workload management
Bumrah has not played since November 19, 2023…
Bumrah hasn’t played an ODI match since November 19, 2023. The last time we played was against Australia in the ODI World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India lost this match, and since then the stadium here was even called the Panauti Stadium for title matches, but Team India’s 96-run victory in the T20 World Cup match on March 8 shattered all myths.
The BCCI wants to reduce Bumrah’s workload by fielding him in selected matches only, so that the dominance of this world’s number 1 bowler remains intact and the batsmen of the opposite team cannot stand in front of him.
Jasprit Bumrah’s workload – Total matches are 236, in which he has played 52 Tests, 89 ODIs and 95 T20Is. This is why his workload is the highest among any other bowler, because whenever the team is in trouble in the match, Bumrah comes in as a rescuer and takes wickets for the team.
For this reason, BCCI plans for Jasprit Bumrah 2027 World Cup separately.

T20 less priority until 2027 World Cup
India plan for Bumrah 2027 World Cup
Until October–November 2027, the T20 International format is being considered a low-priority format for the team. During this period, Suryakumar Yadav may captain the Indian team at the Asian Games to be held in Japan.
The ICC’s next tournament will be the 2027 ODI World Cup. The final of the Test Championship will also be played in the same year. The T20 World Cup, the Olympic Games, and the Champions Trophy are scheduled for 2028.
ODI world cup 2027 will be played in three combine countries- South Africa,Zimbabwe and Namibia and total 14 teams will be played of 54 matches.
thats why BCCI plans for Jasprit Bumrah 2027 World Cup specially.

The strategy will be formulated after IPL 2026.
After the IPL, the selection committee, the Center of Excellence, and team management will jointly decide the future strategy. Bumrah will lead the Mumbai Indians’ pace attack in the IPL.
Bumrah’s fitness is crucial in big tournaments
Bumrah’s fitness is crucial for India’s big tournament campaigns. Therefore, his matches and formats will be carefully selected.
Bumrah was the top wicket-taker in the last T20 World Cup. He took 14 wickets and was also named Player of the Match against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
It is also worth noting here that in matches where Bumrah is not there, the morale of the opposite team gets boosted and in his place Siraj or Prasidh Krishna do not prove to be that good.
In the Test series held with England and Australia in 2025, Team India had to face defeat in the match in which Bumrah did not play.
India pace attack 2027 World Cup
BCCI plans for Jasprit Bumrah 2027 World Cup, but the Indian team requires at least three pacers ready to play in any series. Currently, Arshdeep Singh and Md. Siraj are the two pacers, but their bowling doesn’t have the edge that Bumrah has.
Bumrah has a mix of yorkers, slow ones, and short balls, which are very effective in the death overs, but other pacers, besides giving away a lot of runs, also concede extra runs under pressure. Hence, it is very important to have a strong pace attack against a team like Australia for the 2027 World Cup.
Mohd. Shami is out of the team for a long time. He was last seen in the Champions Trophy and after that he has not been seen in any international match. This is also a draw back for the Indian team.
In the Border-Gavaskar Test series, Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep were given a chance to play in place of Bumrah but they perform well only in IPL and are not successful in international matches.
