American Athletes Cordell Tinch wins first gold medal

Cordell Tinch was unhappy, so he took a three-year break from the sport, but fate brought him back to the track.

The journey of Cordell Tinch of America to win the gold medal in his first World Championship has been very interesting. Till the end of 2022, Tinch never thought that he would ever stand on the podium of the World Championship wearing the gold medal after winning the men’s 110 meter race and the entire stadium would be applauding for him. Actually, Tinch was not happy with his performance and in 2022 he took a break from it. During that time, Tinch sold cell phones in his hometown Green Bay, worked as a cable installer and in a toilet paper factory but fate had something else in store for him.

I took a break to find myself.

After winning the gold medal, Tinch said, “I don’t think I would be where I am today if I hadn’t taken a break to find myself. Finding yourself is the greatest thing. At that time, I wasn’t happy in the sport, but gradually I realized my potential and made a comeback.”

Gave my best in Diamond League.

Cordell Tinch clocked 1.87 seconds at the Shanghai Diamond League in May before the World Championships and became the fourth fastest 110-meter dasher. Tinch then went on to make a splash and leave Olympic medalist Grant Holloway behind at the Tokyo World Championships. The 25-year-old Tinch won the gold medal at the World Championships with a time of 12.99 seconds.

Return at the behest of mother and friend

Encouraged by her mother and friends, Cordell Tinch began her second career in athletics. She returned to the track and field at Pitt State in 2023. She began to enjoy the sport again and decided to turn professional in 2024. However, an injury came between her and the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Tinch was unable to make the US team, even though she had cleared the Olympic qualifying mark in trials.

He also gave up his football scholarship.

Tinch even gave up a college scholarship due to fatigue and academic difficulties. Then, when he had the opportunity to showcase his talent in Division-1 athletics, he passed that up as well. He wanted to stay away from sports and tried a lot during his three-year break from track, but nothing appealed to him.
